Rain, rain, and more rain

Sorry for the late post!
Anyways, on to this week's pictures, projects, and updates.
There has been so much rain lately that I haven't been having to water any of my plants or trees. I love it! I know not everyone loves rain, but the sound of it falling really brightens my day. It's a calming, peaceful sound, and I love that it makes the day a little easier for me, as I won't really go out and do errands if it's raining, therefore, a lot of projects get worked on!

 A Dark Colorado Sky

Two New Sewing Projects: The first picture is a picture of the fabric and pattern for a skirt for my toddler. The second picture includes the pockets I just put on the fabric for a skirt (for myself), as well as the beginning of the back of the skirt (I just pinned it). I am the worst at pinning btw!

Headband complete!

And on a side note, just a couple of finds at the antique store this weekend! I love antique/flea markets; brings back some fond childhood memories.

Catching Up and Blooms

Just a little catch up here; I have a few knitting projects I am working on, with a couple of new stitches being used as a result.

One of those projects is pictured; I am working on the first square, although I have modified the pattern a bit as I am using different colors, and a different sequence. The other knitting project is going to be a pretty little mug hug. I love the projects in the magazine Knitting Today.

Moving right along on a sewing/quilting pattern. I am learning to sew on my sewing machine, as well as learning to quilt, so this project combines the two, and allows me to learn both using a small project. This is going to be a patchwork pillow.

I am getting to work on project with the windows open now! Spring is attempting to show its face here in Colorado in the form of flowers starting to bloom. :-)

The first picture shows blooms on my willow tree, planted last year. The second picture shows blooms beginning on a shrub, also planted last year. However, even with this going on, the town over from where I live just had nine inches of snow on the ground two days ago. Colorado weather, for real.

Flowers, spring (finally!), and yarn over

Spring weather has finally arrived in Colorado. Seriously, we still had snow and ice on Tues. of this week!
With that spring weather finally making an appearance  I can begin to put out some of the flowers I bought, as well as the ones I started from seed, I can also begin to start new plants from seed! Wonderful!

I finished up a project that I was working on, and learned to do the YO stitch as well, YO being the acronym for Yarn Over. This project was a pencil holder for my five year who will be starting kindergarten next year. Just for the sole purpose of including things that people who are new to crafts like knitting (as I am!), I will include links to stitches as well, even if they are simple ones.

New projects and fabric

Running out to get a Fat Quarter for a project I am working on. This phrase sounds so funny to me for some reason; it was funny enough that I posted it as my status on Facebook just for the reactions I would get.

A couple of new projects are in the works. Some materials for one:

Color Changes

Changing colors within a knitting project has been a source of fear for me for a bit, but I finally attempted it. So here is my first attempt!
